As part of the Media Masters project, Makerspace Varaždin held the workshop “How to Distinguish the Right and the Fake”, focused on media literacy, fake news and everyday digital habits.
The workshop was organised in smaller groups, which gave participants more space to talk, ask questions and share their own examples. Together with the facilitators, they discussed how false information spreads, why some content feels convincing even when it is not true, and what we can do before sharing something online.
A big part of the workshop was practical. Participants worked on real examples, compared sources, discussed clickbait and manipulation, and tested the Media Masters educational game as a tool for learning through play. The goal was not only to explain what fake news is, but to help participants think more critically about the content they see every day.
The activity showed once again that media literacy works best when people are actively involved, when they can discuss, question and connect the topic with their own online experience.
