On March 26, 2026, we attended the European closing conference “The Impact of Fake News on European Democracy” in Brussels, organised by Pistes Solidaires as part of the Media Masters project.

The event was held at Mundo Madou and brought together more than 40 participants from 9 European countries, including project partners, educators, researchers, representatives of civil society organisations and people working in the field of European affairs.

The conference focused on fake news, digital manipulation and the challenges they create for European democracies. After the introduction by Pistes Solidaires and the presentation of the Media Masters project results, participants had the chance to hear expert talks on digital manipulation, media literacy, EU regulation and digital sovereignty.

A big part of the event was also dedicated to the results of the Media Masters project, including the impact study prepared by the university partners from Maribor and Sofia. The discussion once again showed how important it is to strengthen critical thinking and to create practical educational tools that help young people and adults better understand the media content they consume every day.

For us, the conference was a good opportunity to look back at everything done through the project, exchange experiences with partners from other countries and discuss how the Media Masters tools can continue to be used after the project ends.

The event finished with informal networking, which opened space for new ideas, future cooperation and continuation of work in the field of media literacy.
