As part of the Media Masters project, Makerspace Varaždin prepared a curriculum for the teacher training activity focused on media literacy and the use of the Media Masters educational board game.The curriculum was created as a practical support for teachers, educators and school professionals who want to bring media literacy topics closer to students in a more interactive way. Instead of treating fake news, disinformation, algorithms and source checking only as theory, the curriculum connects these topics with group work, discussion and gameplay.
The material includes the structure of the training, learning objectives, suggested workshop flow, rules for using the Media Masters game, required materials, reflection activities and examples of how the game can be included in different school subjects or extracurricular activities.
The main idea was to make something useful and easy to adapt. Teachers can use the game in different contexts, from civic education and informatics to language classes, ethics, sociology or project days.
With this curriculum, we wanted to give educators a clear starting point for working with students on media literacy, critical thinking and responsible use of digital media. The material will continue to be used in future workshops, trainings and cooperation with schools.
