As part of the Media Masters project, Makerspace Varaždin organised a teacher training conference focused on using the Media Masters educational board game in schools.
The training was designed for teachers and educators who want to include media literacy in their regular work with students in a more practical and engaging way. During the activity, participants were introduced to the project, the basic concepts of media literacy and the structure of the game.
The main part of the training was hands-on. Teachers played the game themselves, discussed how it could be used in different subjects and shared ideas on how to adapt it to their own classrooms, workshops or school projects.
The discussion showed that media literacy is not limited to one subject. It can be used in Croatian language, civic education, informatics, sociology, ethics, technical culture and many other school contexts.
We were glad to see that teachers recognised the value of learning through play. The Media Masters game gave them a concrete tool they can use with students to open conversations about fake news, sources, algorithms, manipulation and critical thinking.
